FAQ

Questions we get asked most

Can't find your answer? Call us — it's no trouble to explain over the phone.

How long does my pet stay with you on a Drop-IN?
As long as your working day lasts. You'll usually drop them off in the morning and pick them up in the late afternoon. We agree on the exact drop-off and pick-up time when booking.
Does Drop-IN cost more than a regular appointment?
No. You pay for the exam and procedures performed, at the same prices. We don't charge extra for the day's stay.
What if something else turns out to be needed during the day?
We call and explain what we found, what we suggest, and what it costs. Nothing beyond what was agreed happens without your consent. If we can't reach you, we wait — except in a life-threatening situation.
Does my cat need to be fasting before the exam?
Not for a standard clinical exam. Fasting is required for anaesthesia and for some lab and ultrasound tests. When you book, we'll tell you exactly how many hours beforehand they shouldn't eat. Water always stays available, unless we say otherwise explicitly.
How dangerous is anaesthesia for a cat?
There's a risk, but it's significantly reduced through preparation: a pre-procedure exam, blood count and biochemistry, a heart assessment, a dose calculated for cats, and vital-sign monitoring during the procedure. For a healthy adult cat, the risk is low. For older patients and those with kidney or heart disease, we talk it through openly before you decide.
When is the right time to spay or neuter?
For female cats, usually before their first heat; for males, once they're developed enough to safely handle anaesthesia. The exact timing depends on breed, condition and health, so we assess it at the exam.
Do you see dogs too?
Yes, regularly. We specialise in cats, but we see dogs for all the services listed. Waiting and holding areas are kept separate by species.
My cat is aggressive at the vet. Will you even see her?
We will. Tell us in advance and we'll prepare — we'll book her for a quieter part of the day, have towels ready and, if needed, light sedation. It's not a punishment for the cat — it's how the exam becomes possible and safe for everyone.
Do you make house calls?
No, we don't offer home visits. All services — examinations, diagnostics, vaccination and surgery — are carried out at the clinic, where we have the equipment needed for a safe, accurate result. If transport is the issue, that's exactly what Drop-IN is for.
What should I do if it's an emergency and you're closed?
Call us — the number is on the site. If we can't take you in at that moment, we'll direct you to the nearest emergency provider. Never wait until morning for poisoning, severe breathing trouble, a traffic injury, or a male cat straining without urinating.
Do you issue pet passports and microchip pets?
Yes. We implant a microchip, register the animal in the Central Registry, and issue a passport. If you're travelling, let us know your destination early — some countries require a rabies vaccination and antibody titre months before travel.
Can I stay with my pet during the exam?
For a regular appointment — of course, and it's often helpful, since a cat copes better with its owner present. For surgical procedures and imaging, no, for safety reasons and radiation-protection regulations.
Why do people choose you as their cat vet in Belgrade?
Because we built the clinic around cats from day one, not around dogs with cats "added on". A space separate from dogs, force-free handling, dosing and anaesthesia calculated specifically for cats, diagnostics (ultrasound, X-ray, lab work) on site, and Drop-IN so you don't have to take the day off.
